What is an aluminium sandwich panel?
Aluminium sandwich panels (Dibond®) are lightweight sheets composed of three layers. The outer layers are made of aluminium and the core is made of black polyethylene plastic. This aluminium composite panels are UV- and weather-resistant, making it suitable for both interior and exterior applications. The boards are easy to machine with drilling, sawing and milling. Furthermore, they are lightweight, impact-resistant and have high rigidity. Our aluminium sandwich sheets are supplied with a protective film.
These sheets are widely used for billboards, stand construction, football signs, signage, displays, photomontage, lettering, shop fitting and interior design.
The applications of an ALU sandwich panel
An ALU sandwich panel can be used for many things. Think of interior applications, such as a kitchen back wall or a shower wall. Exterior applications, such as billboards, fascia boards or wall cladding, are also possible. The large choice of colours allows you to completely customise the aluminium sandwich panel facade to your style or application. Each panel also has a matt and glossy side. Furthermore, the material is good and easy to work with. Aluminium sandwich panels are familiar to many people under the name Dibond®. Besides Dibond®, Alupanel is also a well-known brand. The sheets can also be used perfectly well outdoors. If they are set in a profile or frame, they can hang outside for a long time. The sheets are also very stiff, despite being 3 mm thick.
What are the pros and cons?
An aluminium sandwich panel has many advantages. First, there is a wide choice of colours and designs. Furthermore, the material is very light, stiff, strong and flat. It is also easy to work with. Disadvantages can be that the edges are a bit rougher. Although this is easily sanded smooth. Also, the core of the material has a different colour than the surface. This can be solved by a finishing strip, a profile or by gluing.
