Description

PTFE (Poly Tetra Fluor Ethylene)

PTFE is a material frequently used in critical applications. PTFE is resistant to high temperatures, chemically resistant and has a very low coefficient of friction. Various fillers can be mixed with PTFE base powder to improve its properties. The fillers we use include glass fibre, glass beads, carbon, graphite, molybdenum disulphide and bronze. PTFE can only be bonded after etching the material.
This material has one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any known solid material. This makes it an excellent choice in applications that require anti-friction properties or are prone to wear. But that is not the only trick up its sleeve. Parts machined in PTFE exhibit high resistance to temperature, chemicals and even radiation . They also exhibit high impact resistance.

PTFE applications

Applications of PTFE & Teflon® PTFE is widely used in many different industries:

Petrochemical and chemical processing

This material is ideally suited for gaskets, linings, pump parts, rings, seals, spacers and dip tubes because it is corrosion-resistant and chemically inert; it resists virtually all acids and alkalis in environments up to 260 degrees Celsius.

Electronic applications

PTFE is one of the best insulators. In thinner films, it will insulate up to 500 volts per mil. We also supply grades that have even greater dielectric strength. It is often used in wire and cable coverings and to insulate conductive surfaces. This versatile material can be incorporated into various insulators and high-voltage components for electrical installations.

Semiconductor industry

PTFE is inert, and has a temperature range of minus 200 degrees Celsius to 260 degrees Celsius. The material is ideally suited for various items used in chip production, including encapsulation of devices for quartz heating elements and the like.

Food, beverage and pharmaceutical industry

Virgin PTFE is approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in the food, beverage, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. Foil and sheets create an inert, non-toxic sliding surface. Transport components - profiles, guide rails and slides - withstand high temperatures in baking and/or drying ovens or other heated processes used for food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical production processes.

Laboratory applications

Pipes, tubes and vessels used in various laboratory products due to their chemical resistance and inertness. No adhesion of contaminants to the surface.

Offshore

PTFE has the lowest coefficient of friction of any plastic, PTFE can be cut or stamped into sliding plates, is resistant to weathering, and is also an inert compound between dissimilar building materials, such as steel and concrete.
