Plastic gratings (GRP)

Description

Using plastic gratings in landings, walkways and work floors, footbridges, platforms and stairs has many advantages. For example, the plastic grating is: strong, weather-resistant, low-maintenance, has a long lifespan and good anti-slip properties. In addition, the gratings are quick, easy and flexible to process and assemble.

Plastic walking grids are available from Plastic Forte in four standard height sizes: 25, 30, 38 and 50 mm. All GRP sheets have a meniscus top or quartz grit surface. The gratings are available in grey (standard) and green.
Glass fibre reinforced plastic walking grids are manufactured by combining glass fibre and resin in a dedicated mould. This creates a plastic grating with certain chemical and mechanical properties, depending on the resin type selected. The glass fibre to resin ratio is 35% and 65%, respectively.

Resin types of plastic grids

As standard, our plastic gratings are available in four resin types:

Type O: Orthophthalic polyester resin, general purpose with resistance to atmospheric corrosion. Fire-retardant according to the
EN-13501-1 (fire behaviour for construction products).
Type I: Isophthalic polyester resin, good chemical resistance and high fire resistance with low smoke dispersion.
Type V: Vinylester resin extreme chemical resistance combined with high fire resistance and low smoke development.

Top layer

Plastic walkway gratings are available with different surface types:

1 Quarz surface

2 Concave surface

3 Closed surface

This type of anti-slip coating consists of a granular, sanded surface that prevents ice formation.

is used outdoors for e.g. walking bridges.

A concave surface occurs when the surface trajectory bends inwards during the thermosetting process. A major advantage of these GRP gratings is their very good non-slip properties without the sand grain surface

GRP Grating closed panel is used to prevent leakage and comes with anti-slip coating as standard.
