Plastic Grass edge tiles

Grass edging tiles are perfect for paving verges. In addition, this tile can also be used for car park paving, verges and embankment lining.

Features of the Plastic Grass Edge Tile

The lightweight lawn edging tiles are made of 100% recycled plastic. The large compartments drain rainwater to the next layer.

Advantages of plastic lawn edging tiles over concrete ones

When using these lawn edging tiles, you save significantly in costs because they can be laid manually. So no crane is needed for laying. The low weight allows a large number of square metres to be transported, so freight costs also remain low. The open structure of the grass slabs ensures good growing conditions, allowing a green (grass) appearance to be created.

Perfectly interlocked and self-draining

The Plastic Grass Edge Tile (standard size 60 x 40 cm) has side interlocks, allowing the tiles to be laid together in a perfectly straight line. Once locked together, the grass tiles can withstand intensive vehicle manoeuvres. And of course, the quality of the tiles ensures that they are highly resistant to ageing. Besides the undeniable aesthetic advantage of this grass tile, there is also a clear ecological advantage. Since the underside of the tile is largely open (53%), the tile has a self-draining function by allowing water to seep into the underlying soil. In fact, this permeability is an aspect that appeals to cities and municipalities in their efforts to use as little paved surfaces as possible in the future and give preference to draining pavements to relieve the burden on existing sewage systems.

Padding and loading

The lawn edging tiles can be filled with various materials in addition to tree soil. Depending on the load, a sufficiently load-bearing foundation layer should be laid. The maximum load is therefore also dependent on the subsoil.

Technical data grass edge tile:

  • Dimensions: 610x410x80mm

Construction and installation of grass dales

The installation of a green grass driveway is relatively quick, but still requires precision and experience. A professional paving contractor usually proceeds as follows:

  1. Perform excavation work

Installing grass dales starts with the necessary digging. For a perfect build-up of your driveway, the professional will dig out the subsoil about 30 cm.

  2. Application of foundation layer + levelling layer

To prevent subsidence, you need a foundation layer of about 20 cm. For good water permeability, a professional usually uses a layer of stone rubble, filled with topsoil. He then compacts the foundation with a vibrating plate. On top of this is a levelling layer of about 5 cm. This usually consists of sand, fine gravel, ...

  3. Installing grass dales

On top of the foundation and levelling layer, the paving contractor now places the grass slabs himself. This can be done manually for a small area and in the case of synthetic turf slabs, but placing them by machine is smoother and less labour-intensive (especially in the case of grass concrete tiles). He then anchors the grass tiles for your driveway in the levelling layer with a vibrating plate.

  4. Fill and sow grass dales

Is the laying of the grass slabs over? Then the professional fills them with a mixture of topsoil, crushed sand, clay granules, ... He fills the grass paving to within 2 cm of the top. This way, the grass on your driveway will grow nicely within the tiles and you won't be able to destroy it. Then he just sows the grass mixture and you are done.
