Laying instructions Plastic Grass Edge Tiles
Supplies:
- Plastic lawn edging tiles
- Shovel or spade
- Level
- Rubber hammer
- Sand or gravel (optional)
- Gloves (for protection)
Preparing the area
- Decide where you want to place the plastic lawn edging tiles. Mark the edges of the area with a string or marking pens to create a straight line.
- Remove any turf, roots and loose dirt from the ground where the tiles will be laid.
Dig a trench
- Dig a trench along the marked edges. The depth of the trench should be about 5 to 8 cm, depending on the thickness of the plastic lawn edging tiles and how deep you want to place them. Make sure the trench is wide enough for the tile to sit firmly.
Optional underlay (for stability)
- If desired, you can lay a layer of sand or gravel in the trench to increase stability. This helps drain water and ensures that the tiles stay firmly in place.
Place the tiles
- Place the plastic grass edge tiles in the trench. Start at one end and work your way to the end. Make sure the tiles lie firmly against each other for a neat finish.
- Use a spirit level to check that the tiles are level. Tap the tiles gently with a rubber mallet to get them at the right height. Make sure the top of the tiles are level with the grass surface.
Finish
- Fill the space along the tiles with the excavated soil and press it firmly so that the tiles remain stable.
- If necessary, pour water over the soil along the tiles to settle the soil and provide additional stability.
- Check again with the spirit level that the tiles are neat and level.
Maintenance
- After installing the tiles, they can be used immediately. With regular garden maintenance, make sure to keep the edges clear of overgrown grass or weeds.
Tip: If you place lawn edging tiles along paths or driveways, make sure they are well anchored to prevent shifting. This can be done with soil pins or a light cement mix under the tiles.
These simple steps ensure that the plastic lawn edging tiles are installed neatly and durably for a sleek and low-maintenance finish to your garden.
