Acrylic opaque white or black is in stock as standard in 2 and 3 mm thick with a two-sided glossy surface. This collection is made of extruded (XT) acrylic, which means the material has hardly any thickness tolerance. This means that the sheet is always exactly the thickness you order. This is ideal for applications where the material is in a profile or frame. Because XT acrylic is produced in large quantities, it is relatively slightly cheaper than cast acrylic, but we also have fewer different thicknesses of it in stock. We also stock opaque white and black in cast acrylic up to 18mm thick.
This white Plexiglas / Acrylic sheet is an opaque white plastic sheet. This means that the material allows virtually (±1%) no light through. This makes it suitable for fixing to a wall with sealant, for example, without the sealant being visible. The material is intended for optical applications, which means you can assume that the material is completely scratch-free and can be used for high-quality interior or signing applications, for example.
Tolerances and finishing
The thickness tolerance on a Plexiglas sheet white or black of 3mm thickness is ±0.3mm. The maximum sheet size is 3,050 x 2,050mm. The sawing tolerance for cut-to-size sheets is ±1mm. Please note that the expansion of plexiglass is 0.06mm per °C per metre. So a sheet 3 metres long expands 0.21mm per °C temperature difference! This plexiglass has a double-sided glossy surface and is coated on both sides with a foil to protect the material. We recommend removing the film from the sheets only after you have already done any post-processing and are sure that everything fits properly. The end edges of a Plexiglas sheet have a slight cutting edge and become matt due to sawing. Of course, the edges are burr-free.
Processing white and black Plexiglas sheets cast
White and black opaque plexiglass, or acrylic, can be either cast or extruded. The cast variant is the better of the two because there is less stress in the material due to the production process. This makes it relatively machinable. Machining operations such as drilling and milling are no problem provided a number of things are taken into account.
