This is because a lot of heat in your home is lost through the windows, whereas you can easily prevent this by installing double-glazed windows.

A front window is nothing more and nothing less than an extra window that you place in front of or behind an already existing window. This additional window gives extra insulation and protection to the existing window. It also acts as a soundproofing device. A plastic (plexiglass or polycarbonate) window reveal is often chosen when double glazing is not possible or too expensive. Think for example of monumental buildings - buildings that are usually poorly insulated, but where double glazing is simply not possible. Another common situation is that of stained-glass windows. Of course, you want to preserve these windows, but unfortunately they have a poor insulation value. In such cases, plastic front windows offer a solution. By installing a Plexiglas or polycarbonate frame, you create space between the current window and the frame. This creates an insulating layer of air between the two windows that not only retains heat but also insulates against noise.
Are you planning to install the front window on the outside to protect glass and lead, for example? Then polycarbonate is the best choice. The table below shows why it is better to choose a Plexiglas front window than a glass front window.
Compared to other materials, such as wood or aluminium, plastics like plexiglass and polycarbonate have several advantages. Namely, a Plexiglas front window can be made in all shapes and sizes, does not need to be processed or painted and is by itself moisture-repellent and heat- and sound-insulating. In addition, plastic does not rot, unlike wood. Furthermore, plastic is durable, environmentally friendly and recyclable. In short, plastic, in the form of Plexiglas or polycarbonate, is the ideal material for opening windows.
Polycarbonate and plexiglass are both suitable as front windows, but there are some differences. In general, polycarbonate is stronger, more flexible and more fire-resistant than plexiglass. Plexiglas also has its advantages: it does not discolour when used outdoors and is easy to polish.
If possible, we always recommend fitting the plastic front window with toggles. This way, you can easily take the panel out to clean it and afterwards you can easily replace it. If this is not structurally possible, use fixed mounting with screws.
Are your window frames suitable for fixing with toggles or not? Check the table below:
See installation sheet.
Sometimes, in older windows, moisture from outside can come through the frame. This causes it to condense on the inside of the current window. Is this the case? Then it is important to allow air to circulate between the window and the mullion. To ensure this, leave out some of the insulation tape. We recommend leaving a 2 cm gap at the bottom on the left and right sides.
