Durable and less damage

The probability of extreme weather doubled in the past five years. Increasingly, a lot of rain falls in a short period of time. As a result, pressure on sewers and roofs is increasing. Nobody wants damage. Kunststof Forte BV therefore looks for smart solutions that reduce or help prevent damage. A green roof is one such solution. Together with our grower, we aim for less grey and more green on Dutch roofs. Will you join us? All you need is a flat roof. On your extension, garage or shed, for example. Up to €30 per m2 subsidy

A green roof captures water during heavy showers, reducing the amount of water going directly to the sewer system. This helps prevent sewers from overflowing. This is why many municipalities and water boards consider green roofs a fine contribution to water management and sometimes give up to EUR 30 per m2 subsidy for a green roof covering. This can mean a hefty contribution to the cost of a green roof.

Check here whether you can benefit from a subsidy scheme.

Our offer

With a lightweight green roof from Kunststof Forte BV, you get a water collection capacity of 20 - 25 litres per m2. This roof is 8.5cm thick, in bloom even 16cm, and is laid on top of the existing bitumen/epdm roof.

First layer of sedum cassette - the drainage layer:
the rainwater that cannot be absorbed by the cassette can drain into the sewer system without any obstacles. Therefore, four drainage holes were made at the top and bottom of the water buffer layer per cavity.

Second layer of sedum cassette - the water buffer layer:
rainwater is capillarily buffered in a substrate of slightly expanded clay pellet. Excess water that cannot be stored will be quickly drained away. To create an additional buffer for dry periods, non-capillary water is also stored as the drainage holes are placed 1 cm from the bottom.

Third layer of sedum cassette - the filter layer
A non-woven filter fleece ensures that fine particles from the substrate cannot be washed out and clog the drain holes

Fourth layer of sedum cassette - the substrate layer
The thickness of the substrate layer is tailored to the needs of the sedum used and to the climate. The substrate layer provides nutrients and water to the sedum on the one hand, and oxygen and anchors the roots on the other. The substrate is lightweight, has a high water buffering capacity and is nutritious.

Fifth layer of sedum cassette - the sedum
The sedum cassettes are delivered at least 90 % vegetated. For the vegetation layer, 8-10 different species of sedum are used, which are staked in and provided with nutrients to root well.
